Bichectomy (Cheek Surgery)
What does the bichectomy surgery involve?
Bichectomy surgery is a simple aesthetic procedure designed to enhance facial contours by reducing the fullness of the cheeks through the removal of fat pads known as Bichat’s fat pads. This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and typically takes approximately 10 minutes.
The Procedure
During the bichectomy, small incisions are made in the inner lining of the cheeks (inside the mouth) to access and remove the Bichat’s fat pads. These incisions do not require stitches, as they heal naturally within about two days.

Advantages of Bichectomy
- No stitches required: The incisions close on their own.
- Short duration: The surgery is usually completed in about 10 minutes.
- Local anesthesia: Local anesthesia is used for the patient's comfort.
- Minimal downtime: Recovery is quick, with only about 2 days of downtime.
- Minimal pain: Patients experience minimal discomfort during the process.
- Slimming of the cheeks: The surgery achieves a desired facial slimming effect.
