Looking Good: A Goal for Successful Professionals
Dr. Ernesto Andrade, a plastic surgeon, speaks in Portafolio, Colombia’s leading newspaper for economic and business news, about: “Looking Good: A Goal for Successful Professionals.”
In the United States, there was a 32% increase in men undergoing plastic surgery in one year. According to statistics, 40% of men worldwide care about their appearance, not only because they have become aware of the importance of having a good physical appearance but also because looking good has become a factor of professional success. For this reason, plastic surgery and aesthetic treatments are no longer exclusive to women. Now, men are undergoing these procedures frequently. Men’s vanity is the same as women’s, but they are more reserved in expressing it, and due to cultural factors, many feel compelled to hide it because it is seen as a lack of masculinity. However, aesthetic surgeons agree that men are better patients than women, as when they want to improve a part of their body, they consult a qualified specialist, follow guidance, do not create false expectations, adhere strictly to postoperative care, and are always satisfied with the results.
